Civil Hospital Theog

Theog is a town and a municipal committee as well as a tehsil in Shimla District in the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is just 26 kms from state capital Shimla.

While the Civil Hospital Theog was equipped to manage cases with minor symptoms of the virus, patients requiring critical care were usually referred to Shimla. However, looking at how quickly the patients’ condition was deteriorating during the second wave of the pandemic, Civil Hospital Theog’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dileep Tekta was aware that the patients had to be given the best possible treatment at their hospital itself rather than referring them to another hospital, which would lead to critical loss of time.

After hearing about Mission 1000 Beds initiative through some local connections, Dr. Tekta reached out to the Foundation and expressed an interest in setting up a 5-bedded Critical Care Unit at their hospital along with some PPE kits for their doctors.

The Foundation immediately responded to this call of distress. The equipment was delivered and the setup was installed within 10 days of receiving the request. 300 PPE Kits were also handed over to the hospital.

The facility was handed over to the hospital authorities on June 11, 2021.

A total of 372 patients have benefited so far at this facility
