NO TOBACCO DAY – FRIENDS OF YouWeCan SHARE THEIR STORIES ON QUITTING TOBACCO

“Quitting was one of the most difficult things I have done, but also the best thing I have done for myself,” says Divya.

Did you know? 600,000,000 trees have been chopped down to make cigarettes and 84,000,000 tonnes of O2 emissions has been released into the air — as a result of the tobacco industry.

“I tried for 5-6 years to quit, but I didn’t succeed. Once I realised the harm I am doing to my body, and started witnessing my body change – I kicked the habit. Anyone can quit if they truly choose to. If you will, you can.” Saket says.

Throughout its lifecycle, tobacco pollutes the planet and damages the health of ALL people — even those, who do not consume tobacco.

“Once you quit smoking, you will feel your body change for the better. I encourage everyone who smokes to make this significant step for their wellbeing,” says Mr. Nanda

This No Tobacco Day, YouWeCan shares stories of those who successfully quit tobacco. We thank everyone who shared their stories, as a part of our No Tobacco Day campaign.

“Smoking and it’s impact on my body made it difficult for me to participate in fitness activities. I could feel the harm it had done to my body and decided to quit” says Abhishek

According to the World Health Organization, tobacco kills over 8 million people every year and destroys our environment, further harming human health, through cultivation, production, distribution, consumption, and post- consumer waste.

On the 30th of May, — Shoolini University hosted Dr. Sumedha Kushwaha  (Global  Head, Strategy and Partnership of YouWeCan Foundation) to share valuable insights on Tobacco and its ill effects. Mrs. Poonam Nanda (Chief Mentor, YouWeCan Foundation) and Dr. Kushwaha discussed the stages of forming a habit, the cycle of tobacco usage, and the ultimate dangers of developing the habit of smoking and tobacco usage.
