Project Name

Nizamabad

During our preliminary survey in Telangana to identify the cities that were facing acute shortage of critical care facilities for COVID-19 patients, we found out that Nizamabad was the worst affected district outside the state capital.

While researching for hospitals in the local area that we could support, we identified that the Government Medical College and Government Hospital Nizamabad not only catered to the residents of Nizamabad district but also of neighboring rural districts. Moreover, the hospital also catered to an influx of patients from Maharashtra due to its proximity to the state border.

The YouWeCan team immediately contacted the Government Medical College and Government Hospital Nizamabad and conducted a need assessment. The survey showed that while the hospital had adequate L1 facilities for COVID-19 patient isolation, they lacked critical care facilities. An MoU was immediately signed and the project was initiated.

The hospital administration as well as local government officials welcomed this initiative and provided their complete support all through the project.

The facility was handed over to the hospital authorities on July 7, 2021.

A total of 295 patients have benefited so far at this facility.
